Manual Handling Course

Manual handling injury or muscular skeletal disorders are the most common cause of occupational ill health in the UK. Over 1.1 million people a year are affected at a cost to industry of £5.7 billion. Some 40% of these injuries affect the employee’s back and each one, on average, represents 20 days absence.

Training people to handle objects safely and in the correct manner can reduce the risk of injury to your employees. It’s not just lifting and carrying but also repetitive activity that can cause problems.

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations place a duty of care on every employer to reduce the potential for injury from manual handling operations.

McPherson Training have produced a one day course which trains staff in:

• Manual Handling Risk Assessment
• The basics of safe manual handling when lifting, carrying or manually transporting objects.
• Safety in pulling and pushing wheeled objects.
