The Moray Council with grant funding from the DWP Jobcentreplus has formed a partnership with the Private, Public and the voluntary sectors to support 50 young people age between the ages of 18 to 24 to gain and sustain employment. From 18th October 2011, following the introduction of new regulation, Holders of a UK paper driving licence will be obliged to exchange it for a photo card licence to receive a DQC following completion of 35 hours periodic training. Paper licences will still be admissible for the attendance of periodic training.

Transport News magazine reports "Unless the UK's more than 400,000 freight drivers pick up the momentum on the mandatory Driver CPC training Britain may be facing a gap of 30% fewer drivers when the first five year cycle completes in September 2014"

Between 10 September 2008 and 31 March 2011, 14,660 Driver CPC qualification cards were issued through completing 35 hours periodic training. This is for both bus and truck drivers. With only 1050 approved companies to provide this training time is getting short for drivers to qualify.
